Journaling has excellent benefits to help you improve your health! These benefits include improving happiness, increased productivity, increased self-awareness, and increased self-talk. An even better benefit is that it is a form of self-care! Before I started journaling, I had no idea how it would improve not only my mental health but my life!
1. Gets Your Thoughts Out
Holding in all your thoughts is unhealthy. It can cause your depression to worsen, trigger anxiety, and other unhealth coping behaviors. By writing down and releasing your thoughts, it will help clear your mind. It’s exhilarating to physically write the negative thoughts down and look physically at them. It gives you a better understanding of your thoughts as well by seeing them and processing them.
2. Writing Changes Your Perspective
Writing allows for one to change their perspective on what is bothering them. For me, once I have written out all my thoughts, I reread them. I reread them again. However, this time with a different colored pen and I make changes of my perspective, negative to positive, etc. that I have encountered during the reread.
3. Provides Your Mind with Consistency
By journaling daily, it gives your mind something to look forward to daily. Consistency is great for the mind by providing it with structure and discipline.
